An eight hour jumper?

I'm having a bet with myself that I can knit this jumper in eight hours. What do you think? It's short; it's simple; it's superchunky on 10mm needles...is it doable? Well, whatever - it's a lovely Debbie Bliss Paloma pattern  from the Winter Brights booklet. If you need a new jumper for your trip to the Arctic next weekend this might be just the one to make.

Here's another one

Again, really simple! I made this because there weren't initially (or ever?) any small projects for the gorgeous Debbie Bliss Paloma yarn and local people were baulking at the idea of paying £130 to knit themselves a cardigan (Can't think why...!) So here's my own small project Paloma idea. The red one I made was more attractive, but I can't find it right now to photograph it.

Three Button Cowl

A really simple but appealing cowl that can be worn long and loose or wound twice round the neck for extra warmth.

Materials
Four hanks Debbie Bliss Paloma
One pair of 7.5mm needles
3 large buttons

Instructions:
Cast on 26 stitches
Row 1 k3 *p2, k2* rpt to last 3 stitches, p2, k1
Row 2 k3 *p2, k2* to last 3 sts, p2 k1
Row 3 k1, *p2, k2* to last st, k1
Row 4 k1, *p2, k2* to last st, k1
These four rows form pattern. Rpt pattern rows until cowl measures approx. 45”
Change to k2, p2 rib: and work the following two rows, three times:
Row 1, k2, *p2, k2* to end
Row 2 k1, p1, k2,* p2, k2* to last 2 sts, p1, k1
Buttonhole row 1: k2, p2, cast off 2, p1, k2, p2, cast off 2, p1, k2, p2, cast off 2, p1, k2
Buttonhole row 2: k1, p1, k2, cast on 2, k2, p2, k2, cast on 2, k2, p2, k2, cast on 2, k2, p1, k1
Next row: work stitches as presented, but work into back of cast on stitches.
Work one more row, then cast off, sew in end and sew on buttons to match buttonhole placings.
A little reminder also, that if you like the pattern and think it's worth a small donation to The Knock On Effect, my late niece's fundraising project for those affected by cancer, then please go to: http://theknockoneffect.bigcartel.com/
where you can scroll down to the donate button. But just if you'd like; there's no obligation.

Time for a WIP post

Clearly this isn't a picture of all my current WIPS - just off the top of my head, there's also the cotton pink jumper, the red aran, the dinosaur, the lacy scarf, the socks... - but obviously when I got down to half a dozen items on the needles, it was time to cast on a couple more.

So, here we have the beginnings of a gorgeous Debbie Bliss Paloma cardigan - it's soft and squishy and I'm really looking forward to wearing it in the shop as a walking, talking Paloma sample. Sadly, though the yarn's lovely, it's been poorly supported with patterns and isn't an easy substitute for other yarns, so tends to get neglected. No more will it sit at the back of the shop and be ignored!

And the other one is the first pattern repeat of a One-Ball Wavy Gravy Hat - a free online pattern from Iconoclastknit. And very nice it's looking too . Should take a single ball of Noro Kureyon. I might have to make one in each of our colourways. That's okay, isn't it? We all need lots of hats. Maybe not for another few months, but longterm. Lots of hats is good.

Debbie Bliss Paloma

I want to post later today about British Wool Weekend, which was fab, but for now I'm just putting it out there that, to link in with our recent newsletter, Debbie Bliss Paloma is currently £4.50 at Three Bags Full, both in the Piece Hall shop and online.

This is a special price till the end of September so if you love soft, light, beautiful, luxury yarns, this'd be a good time to treat yourself.

You don't have to subscribe to the newsletter to get the great price, but if you'd like me to send it to you 3 or 4 times a year, just email me on threebagsfullwoolshop@googlemail.com and I'll add you to the list.

Debbie Bliss Paloma

I'm loving the new super chunky yarns this winter and this one, Debbie Bliss's Paloma, is one of my favourites. It's soft, it's light and it comes in great colours. What more could you ask?

Ok, you could ask for a good price, I suppose. Recommended retail price is £6.50 per 50g hank, but at Three Bags Full, both online and in the shop, we're offering it for £5.50 till December. That gives you lots of time to knit up a few luxury scarves for Christmas presents.
